The Medical SurgicalTrauma Intensive Care Unit at Chippenham Hospital:
  • 32 bed Medical Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit
  • Surgical Patients (spine, hip, stomach)
  • Medical Patients (DKA, asthma, sepsis, respiratory failure, heart failure)
  • Trauma Patients (MVC, falls, penetrating traumas -ex. gunshot wounds/stabbings, Pysch - ex. suicide attempts, etoh and drug abuse)
  • Level I Trauma Certification

  • Manages the fiscal and clinical operationsof assigned area(s) of responsibility and recommends sufficient number ofqualified competent persons to provide care. Participates in outside sourceselection for needed services.

  • Integrates department services with thehospitals primary function maintaining communication with medical and nursingstaffs, Administration, patients and their families/significant other.Coordinates and integrates services within departments.

  • Assists in development and implementation ofpolicies and procedures that guide and support provision of services.Supervises nursing staff and assures staff competency.

  • Conducts ongoing assessment and improvementof the departments performance. Promotes the Quality Management programof the facility maintaining appropriate quality control programs (whereapplicable).

  • Assists Director to develop, markets,implements, and evaluates new services and programs recommending space andresources needed. Participates in outside source selection forneeded services.

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Develops goals and objectives for assignedarea(s) of responsibility and participates in development of goals andobjectives for the Nursing Department.

  • Provides for orientation, inservice training, and continuing educationfor persons in the department.

  • Assumes the duties of theAdministrative Nursing Supervisor as assigned.

  • Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing from a school of professional nursing (required)
  • BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program at an accredited school of Nursing (preferred)
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia as a Registered Nurse (required)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider (required)
  • ACLS certification (preferred)
  • 1 year of nursing experience, ideally in an acute care environment (preferred)

  • Full Time
  • 12 hour shifts (rotating)Days 7am to 7pm, Nights 7pm to 7am
  • 72 hours every pay period (every two weeks)
  • Weekend & Holiday Rotations
