Boston Children’s Health Physicians (BCHP) along with Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center and the Department of Pediatrics at New York Medical College have initiated a search to identify candidates to serve as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine for all three organizations. This key physician leadership role leads all clinical, educational, and administrative activities of the division. Successful candidates for this position must demonstrate the ability to lead a diverse group in clinical, research, and teaching programs, work with hospital and academic department partners using a collaborative approach, and mentor junior faculty. The successful candidate will also have business skills, including financial budgeting and resource management experience. Other key attributes include a commitment to excellence in patient care, implementation of innovative patient care programs, and experience with strategic program growth. Candidates should be certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and eligible for the academic rank of Associate Professor of Pediatrics or higher at New York Medical College.


Boston Children’s Health Physicians, a diverse, multispecialty Pediatric practice group of over 250 physicians, collaborates with Westchester Medical Center to provide a predominance of the Pediatric medical services at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and has done so for many years. These services include Adolescent Medicine, Cardiology, Critical Care, Developmental Pediatrics, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology Oncology, Hospitalist, Infectious Diseases, Pulmonology, Allergy & Immunology, Sleep Medicine, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, and Rheumatology.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital (MFCH) is an 18-bed unit that includes full staffing and support for the hospital’s Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery and interventional cardiology programs. The state-of-the-art PICU fully support our medical providers to employ clinical expertise in all aspects of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine utilizing all newer technologies, including Pediatric ECMO, in a compassionate arena where "family centered care" is delivered. The PICU admits approximately 1,300 patients a year. The breadth of pathology of admitted patients to the PICU includes all possible pediatric illnesses. MFCH is a regional Children’s Hospital of 136 beds and the PICU is the only such unit serving the 6000 square mile area of New York’s lower Hudson River valley. Services include the region’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, a nationally certified advanced Interventional Epilepsy Treatment center, cutting edge stem cell transplantation and hematology/oncology programs, and other advanced tertiary and quaternary Pediatric programs which are supported by the PICU. The hospital trains 60 Pediatric residents and supports fellowships in a number of Pediatric subspecialties.

In addition to the Division Chief, the PICU staff includes 7 full time attending physicians, all board eligible/certified in PCCM. Our superb PICU nursing staff has a 30-year history of pediatric critical care experience, and our dedicated respiratory therapy team has extensive experience dealing with pediatric patients that require respiratory support services, including all modalities of care.

The mission of the medical caregivers of the PCCM division is to deliver excellent medical care for critically ill or injured infants, children and adolescents requiring our tertiary/quaternary center - while at the same time supporting families during this intense emotional time.
