SHIFT: Nights (rotating weekends)

SCHEDULE: Full-time

St. Davids North Austin Medical Center is part of St. Davids HealthCare, one of the largest health systems in Texas, which was recognized with a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2014. The 425-bed multi-specialty, acute care facility is dedicated to the highest level of womens health services, including maternity and newborn care with Level I, II and III nurseries at the adjacent St. Davids Womens Center of Texas. The facility also features a 24-hour emergency department, the Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, the Bariatric Center, heart and vascular center, neurology and neurosurgery, a kidney transplant program, inpatient and outpatient surgery, and acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, among many others. St. Davids North Austin Medical Center is also home to St. Davids Childrens Hospital. In 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016, the hospital earned a national distinction for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group.

Position Description
Responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients with a broad range of illnesses.The staff nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital.In collaboration with other health team members, follows the philosophy, policies and goals of the facility and department.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required: The SDHRN ensures all nursing care provided meets the standard of care. The SDHRN demonstrates knowledge of national patient safety goals, hospital core measures, performance improvement processes and service excellence quality initiatives. The SDHRN is knowledgeable of all policies and practices relative to the role and duty performed. The SDHRN demonstrates at minimum, basic computer skills related to the role and care of the patient. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and St. Davids North Austin Medical Center.

Preferred: Computer skills, previous experience in applicable field

Education & Experience

Required: Graduate of accredited nursing school with Nursing Diploma, Associates Degree or higher level education.

Preferred:Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Business, or Healthcare Administration. Documented experience demonstrating leadership, management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Licenses & Certifications

Required: Current Texas RN License or a Compact RN license from a NCLA Compact State. New hires have 90 days from start date to obtain Texas RN License; NRP certification as per SDH policy, new hires have six months from start date to obtain NRP certification. ACLS certification as per SDH policy: employees hired prior to April 1, 2016 have till December 31, 2016 to complete certification and new hires have six months from start date to obtain ACLS certification.
