¢\tA member of the nursing team who directly provides for the personal care, comfort and safety needs of patients within scope of practice. This member of the nursing team works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, performs patient care procedures consistent with the University Medical Center at Princeton standards, and works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1.\tProvides for the personal care and hygiene needs of patients, including but not limited to bathing, oral hygiene, and changing of linens.2.\tReport any abnormal vital signs to nurse including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oximeter Report any abnormal vital signs to nurse including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oximeterOTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES¢\tNursing Assitant1.\tCommunicates with the nursing staff to address identified patient needs.2.\tPerforms hourly patient rounds.3.\tProvides for the personal care and hygiene needs of patients, including but not limited to bathing, oral hygiene, and changing of linens.4.\tPerforms routine patient care procedures, including but not limited to monitoring vital signs, collecting specimens, measuring height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, glucose monitoring.5.\tMaintains a safe patient care environment.6.\tAdheres to infection control policy including but not limited to hand washing standards.7.\tReports to nurse any changes in patient condition or behavior.8.\tReport any abnormal vital signs to nurse including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pulse oximeter9.\tReports blood glucose results to nurse upon completion.10.\tProvides timely documentation of patient care activities in the electronic medical record.11.\tParticipates in maintenance of the patient care environment, including but not limited to cleanliness and orderliness of room, filled water pitchers (when appropriate), suction set ups on the wall with regulators.12.\tSupports customers service and performance improvement goals for the department.13.\tCollaborate with staff both within and outside the department to enhance patient care and satisfaction.14.\tMaintains confidentiality standards15.\tPossesses the knowledge, skill and attitude necessary to meet patients physical, psychological and social needs with the growth and development levels and patient populations served within the department.16.\tParticipates in unit compliance as related to established standards.17.\tAttends in-services and educational programs to enhance knowledge and promote growth within position.18.\tProvides for the care of the incontinent patient.19.\tPerforms errands as necessary to avoid delays in patient care.20.\tEnsures that patients are prepared for meals including but not limited to clearing tray tables for meal tray to be placed, position in a meal ready position.21.\tKeeps unit manager informed of ongoing and/or unresolved issues that are in need of intervention.22.\tWorks collaboratively with all members of the health care team to ensure a smooth functioning unit.23.\tPerforms other duties as assigned.24.\tAccountable for improving patient care through adherence to all patient safety and quality standards, regulations, and best practices.¢\tUnit Secretary0.\tTranscribes direct admission physician-written orders into the electronic medical record and forward them to registered nurses screen for review and acceptance.1.\tAlerts the register nurse to any orders which require immediate attention.2.\tOrganizes and maintains the patients charts and follows the chart copying procedure when patients are being discharged.3.\tIs instrumental in coordinating admissions and transfers and facilitates discharge arrangements by contacting the contracted ambulance provider and adheres to established protocols.4.\tConveys interdepartmental communications and messages within the nursing unit.5.\tMaintains the nurses station is a quiet, orderly manner, and directs visitors as necessary.6.\tAnswers the WestCall System in response to a patient call on a timely basis.7.\tAnswers telephone calls promptly notifying caller of unit and secretarys name (i.e. Telemetry, Mrs. Washington).8.\tEnters staff shift assignment into the WestCall System if applicable.9.\tUpdates and maintains the Nursing Quality Binder if applicable.10.\tMaintains the calendar of the Nurse Manager by arranging meetings, confirming availability of attendees, prioritizing schedules and keeping the Nurse Manager appraised of meeting conflicts and/or changes to the schedule as requested.11.\tRecords and types minutes as well as organizes materials for meetings when requested.12.\tEstablishes conference call dial in number and setup polycom phone for meetings when requested.13.\tProcesses check requests and invoices for the department and ensure that payment is received in a timely manner.14.\tAble to order patient care and non-patient care items via Lawson; business cards and office supplies via Impact Office and forms from AE Litho.15.\tDemonstrates a working knowledge of department equipment, including copy machines, fax machines, printers and GetWell and able to process service requests via the on-line self-service portals.16.\tMakes conference room reservations and adheres to the established guidelines.17.\tOrients new Unit Secretaries to their duties and responsibilities on the Unit.18.\tDevelop clerical expertise by attending Staff Development Programs.19.\tMaintains established Princeton HealthCare System Standards for customer service.20.\tAccountable for improving patient care through adherence to all patient safety and quality standards, regulations, and best practices.21.\tParticipate in Monthly Staff Meeting and attends PHCS activities such as Town Meeting and CNO Chats.22.\tMaintains a pleasant, professional attitude to patients, visitors and staff.

•\tEducation\n•\tHigh School diploma or equivalent\n•\tCompletion of UAP course or Nursing 101\n•\t\nRelated Work Experience\n•\tNot required but prefer six months of Nursing Assistant experience or currently enrolled in LPN/RN nursing program with successful completion of Nursing I.\n•\tPrevious unit secretary experience\n•\tPrevious experience in a hospital setting
