General Summary StatementThe Invasive Cardiovascular Charge Nurse will provide leadership in the efficient and safe completion of daily patient workflow within the Invasive Cardiology Department in partnership with the Clinical manager and Clinical Lead. Maintains a professional atmosphere throughout the department, enabling patients and staff to realize superior quality outcomes. The Charge Nurse will also model exceptional interpersonal skills and utilize clinical and professional expertise in the identification and resolution of interdepartmental and clinical problems. Assist in all cardiac catheterization procedures, diagnostic and interventional as well as peripheral vascular procedures. Perform emergency procedures such as emergent percutaneous cardiac and peripheral interventions, IAB insertion, pericardiocentesis and temporary pacemaker insertion. Follow established standards and practices under the direction of a credentialed invasive cardiologist, vascular surgeon or electrophysiologist. The Invasive Cardiovascular Charge Nurse will demonstrate cardiovascular knowledge in physical assessment, and perform high quality Clinical Care for all cardiovascular patients. Supports the mission, philosophy and objectives of the Chester County Hospital and the Cardiovascular Program at all times, and adheres to all of the hospital policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Unit Coordination/Oversight1.\tCollaborates with the multidisciplinary team including physicians, APPs, Clinical Lead, Non-Invasive Cardiology personnel and appropriate nursing units to efficiently and effectively coordinate the daily procedural workflow of the Invasive Cardiology Department.2.\tIn conjunction with the Clinical Manager and Clinical Lead, maintains adequate and efficient staffing patterns, addresses potential staffing problems, and ensures scheduled meal breaks.3.\tPrioritizes and assigns tasks and responsibilities to individual staff members on a daily and as needed basis.4.\tAssures all necessary resources are available to complete assigned tasks.5.\tEnsures a clean, well maintained, and professional atmosphere throughout the department for both patients and staff.6.\tDemonstrates exceptional customer service skills and uses clinical and professional expertise to advocate on behalf of our patients. 7.\tMaintains departmental and organizational standards of quality and safety. Problem Solving1.\tUses clinical and professional expertise to provide leadership and guidance in identification, prioritization and successful resolution of problem situations.2.\tResponds effectively and timely to all patient, visitor, and physician concerns.3.\tInvolves appropriate stakeholders in the problem solving process, escalating the issue when necessary. Clinical Responsibilities Specific to the Invasive CV Lab1.\tCalls for, receives and preps patient for all procedures.2.\tProvides patient teaching prior to, and following all procedure3.\tChecks chart for completeness including required signatures, patient education and physician orders, and enters data into computer4.\tResponds quickly and efficiently during an emergency and follows ACLS protocols.5.\tChecks and documents emergency and POC testing equipment, and prepares the HV Prep/Recovery for the day.6.\tAdministers conscious sedation under the direction of the interventionalist or testing physician7.\tPerforms cardiology testing as per protocol8.\tAssists technical staff and cardiologist during implantation of cardiac electronic implantable devices (CIEDs) in the monitor, scrub and circulation duties 9.\tMaintains sterile field using sterile technique10.\tAssists with the preparation of procedure supplies11.\tMonitors patients for hemodynamic stability and arrhythmias, and responds appropriately.12.\tMaintains knowledge of procedural flow and all supplies required for diagnostic and interventional procedures and implant procedures. 13.\tPractices and maintains competency with safe radiation exposure Communication1.\tModels exceptional interpersonal communication utilizing verbal, written, and electronic modalities in a clear, concise, direct, and timely manner.2.\tAccurately communicates patient care information to the interdisciplinary care team in a timely manner. 3.\tInvolves Clinical Leads and CV management team in communications when appropriate. Documentation1.\tEnsures and maintains departmental and clinical data integrity.2.\tGenerates necessary reports Professional Role Development1.\tDevelops own professional knowledge via practice, observation, professional literature, networking and attending continuing education programs.2.\tPromotes best practice by demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care 3.\tPromotes innovation and creativity in the practice environment.4.\tServes as a mentor for departmental staff.5.\tAccepts constructive feedback about performance or behaviors and shows evidence of change.6.\tAdheres to the Hospital Dress Code.7.\tMaintains good attendance/lateness standards in accordance with Hospital policy. Department Support1.\tMaintain compliance and competence with the development of the electronic medical record and all developing technology2.\tReviews quality data through chart review and ACC

Education Training and Experience\nBSN required\n5 years Invasive Cardiovascular experience preferred\n2 years Charge experience (preferred)\nBasic computer skills including Outlook and Microsoft\nAbility to successfully complete on the job training for CCH computer programs\nAbility to speak, read, write and understand English\n\nLicensure/Certification \nCurrent Pennsylvania RN License\nBLS and ACLS certification required\nRCIS and/or CCRN preferred
