General Summary StatementProvides comprehensive, quality nursing care through application of the nursing process. Adheres to Nursing Policies and Procedures and Organizational Goals and ObjectivesEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Practice1.\tProvides age appropriate care for the population served. Gives consideration to growth & developmental phase of life, to age related factors such as thermal regulation, nutrition, medication administration, nutrition, safety and functional needs of the patient.2.\tUses appropriate resources for patients with special needs such as language barriers, sensory problems, altered cognition, cultural and religious needs.3.\tEnsures attention to patients physical, spiritual and emotional well being.4.\tDemonstrates competency in assessment skills (Includes initial and ongoing assessments).5.\tPerforms pain assessments and intervenes to optimally meet patients needs for comfort.6.\tPlans clinical care based on patients needs and uses available resources.7.\tPerforms clinical care in accordance with policy and procedure.8.\tEvaluates outcomes of nursing interventions and takes appropriate actions to move patient toward reaching goals of care.9.\tIdentifies situations that warrant patient rescue and takes appropriate action.10.\tAdheres to the 5 rights of medication administration and uses the medication administration system.11.\tIntegrates principles of infection control & infection prevention into practice.12.\tAdheres to aseptic technique.13.\tUses resources and references for reviewing policies and procedures, medications, and clinical information.14.\tPrioritizes and organizes work effectively within assigned shift.15.\tUtilizes proper body mechanics when moving patients, equipment or lifting trays.Communication1.\tUses effective communication during hand-offs. (e.g. break report, shift report, transfer report, etc.)2.\tOrganizes information into a meaningful format.3.\tDelegates appropriately to unlicensed personnel and team members.4.\tCommunicates patient care information to the interdisciplinary care team. 5.\tProvides patient and family education in a manner that is understood and gives the patient and family handouts, brochures and resources that can be taken home for future reference.6.\tAccepts assignments and performs as a team member to provide the best outcomes for patients.7.\tIntroduces self to patient and explains procedures to patient and family.

Education Training and Experience\nBachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. \nTwo years’ acute care specialty specific experience is preferred.\n\nLicensure/Certification Required \nCurrent Pennsylvania RN License\nCPR, ACLS, PALS certification required. \n\nCertification in clinical specialty (CPAN) is preferred.
