Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Practice1.\tProvides age appropriate care for the population served. Gives consideration to growth & developmental phase of life, to age related factors such as thermal regulation, nutrition, medication administration, nutrition, safety and functional needs of the patient.2.\tUses appropriate resources for patients with special needs such as language barriers, sensory problems, altered cognition, cultural and religious needs.3.\tEnsures attention to patients physical, spiritual and emotional well being.4.\tDemonstrates competency in assessment skills (Includes admission and shift assessments).5.\tPerforms pain assessments and intervenes to optimally meet patients needs for comfort.6.\tPlans clinical care based on patients needs and uses available resources.7.\tPerforms clinical care in accordance with policy and procedure.8.\tPerforms peripheral venipuncture and peripheral and central vascular access care according to policy & procedure.9.\tEvaluates outcomes of nursing interventions and takes appropriate actions to move patient toward reaching goals of care.10.\tIdentifies situations that warrant patient rescue and takes appropriate action, e.g. Rapid Response or Code Blue/Pink.11.\tAdheres to the 5 rights of medication administration and uses the Medication Administration Check (MAK) system per policy and procedure.12.\tIntegrates principles of infection control & infection prevention into practice.13.\tAdheres to aseptic technique as appropriate.14.\tUses resources and references for reviewing policies and procedures, medications, and clinical information.15.\tPrioritizes and organizes work effectively within assigned shift.16.\tDemonstrates proficiency in arrhythmia interpretation and intervention.17.\tAdministers appropriate medications and infusions as ordered. Demonstrates current knowledge of cardiac pharmacology.18.\tCollaborates with physicians/physicians assistants/advance practice nurses about the care and treatment of the telemetry patient and initiation or discontinuation of telemetry monitoring.19.\tDemonstrates understanding of use and functionality of central station monitors, transport monitors, emergency cart monitors, passive displays and telemetry transmitters.20.\tAdheres to Core Measures in the nursing management of telemetry, medical and surgical patients.21.\tPromotes restoration of function to optimal level at discharge by implementing surgical nursing measures.

Education Training and Experience\nGraduate of an accredited Nursing Program. Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. \n\nExperience preferred, however training and specialty specific education programs are provided during orientation, and must be successfully completed as scheduled.\nBasic computer skills: keyboard, mouse use. Ability to complete data entry on clinical documentation screens. Ability to use email and internet. Ability to successfully complete on the job training for CCH computer programs. Ability to practice critical thinking and organizational skills. Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.\n\nLicensure/Certification \nCurrent Pennsylvania RN License. \nCPR certification required. Certification in clinical specialty is preferred.\n\nMed-Surg (including Med-Surg IHR): No Additional\n\nWork Environment and Hazards\nDirect patient care areas on nursing unit. Risk of exposure to potentially hazardous materials and body fluids. May become involved in crisis situations.\n\nWork Contact Group\nThe Chester County Hospital personnel, physicians, volunteers, patients and their families/visitors and vendors.\n\nMust meet specialty specific competency requirements per the job description.\n\nAmbulatory Care/Pre-Admission: No Additional \n\nAntenatal: AWHONN fetal monitoring program completion required.\n\nEmergency: ACLS, PALS certification required, or must complete within 12 months of hire.\n\nEndoscopy: ACLS, PALS certification required, or must complete within 12 months of hire.\n\nICU, Critical Care Support, PINU: ACLS certification required, or must complete within 12 months of hire.\n\nL&D: NRP and ACLS certification required, or must complete within 12 months of hire. Completion of a WHONN fetal monitoring program within 12 months of hire.\n\nMed-Surg (including Med-Surg IHR): No Additional\n\nMed-Surg (WWG): ACLS certification required, or must complete within 12 months of hire.\n\nMother-Baby: NRP certification required, or must complete within 12 months of hire. STABLE program completion is preferred.\n\nNICU: NRP certification required, or must complete within 12 months of hire.
