This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physician Assistant (PAs) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join the Surgical Teams at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) Cedar Campus and partner with the Department of Surgery at HUP- 34th and Spruce. This unique NP/PA role is based in the Department of Surgery and staffs the Center for Surgical Health clinical program at the HUP-Cedar Avenue campus. The Center for Surgical Health (CSH) is an interdisciplinary academic-community partnership housed in the Department of Surgery. The mission of CSH is to support, educate and advocate for vulnerable persons with surgical diseases. Our vision is to create a sustainable infrastructure through which all members of our community can access high-quality surgical care. As an NP/PA within the Department of Surgery and the CSH, you will be part of an innovative inter-professional surgical program committed to providing the highest quality surgical care for West Philadelphia.In this role, the NP/PA will primarily be responsible for seeing new surgical consults, performing bedside procedures according to credentialing, and following ongoing surgical consults at HUP Cedar. In addition, you will staff the CSHenter clinic. As the NP/PA at HUP Cedar, you will be the initial contact for patients referred to the Center for Surgical Health and hold a leadership role for surgical patients cared for at HUP Cedar and the CSH. As the initial point of contact for patients needing the Center for Surgical health, the NP/PA plays an integral role of ensuring patients are able to receive high quality care throughout the perioperative continuum. You will have a unique opportunity to autonomously provide quality care within the scope of your professional practice in collaboration with the CSH, HUP 34th Street Surgical team and Surgical Sub-Specialty Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) along with physicians, APPs, nursing staff and other members of the care team at HUP Cedar. The Center for Surgical Health is committed to building an academic community of interdisciplinary scholars who support each others intellectual curiosity and progression within the surgical equity space. CSH recognizes that changing the landscape of surgical care for vulnerable populations requires a multipronged approach, including improving access to surgical consultation and operative intervention, interdisciplinary public health and clinical outcomes research, curriculum development surrounding the social determinants of surgical health, and, advocacy efforts to inform policy change at the local, state, national and international levels. Clinic | Center for Surgical Health | United StatesAs a result, the provider will have the opportunity to participate in educational activities, research, ensure regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribe in accordance with their collaborative agreement and State regulations. This unique opportunity will provide the APP experience working to the full scope of their license with a multitude of teams and will be an exciting opportunity to provide care for various types of surgical patients. This position is focused on providing consultative surgical expertise along with patient and family education with minimal OR time/first assisting. Opportunities for professional growth and development are available through research, lecturing, publications, and involvement with departmental and hospital projects and committees. All Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants function under the guidelines designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The PA or CRNP hired will be held accountable through a formal job description, the delineation of privileges, and their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. The candidates will work 3-4 (12) hour day shifts with rotational weekends and holiday coverage.

Acute Care Certification for Nurse Practitioners Required. Masters Degree Required. ACLS required. Active PA license required at time of hire.
