The Diabetes Nurse Practitioner functions as part of a team that consults and manages Patients with diabetes in the Inpatient Setting. Work in collaboration with hospital staff including Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Nursing, Dietary, Nutrition, Information Systems, Pharmacy, and CEQI as members of a multi-disciplinary team to improve the care of patients with diabetes across UPHS. Establishes follow up care for patients new to diabetes. All nurse practitioners function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP hired by the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/division designee, and within the Human Resource guidelines.

Licensed to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.\n\nM.S.N, and Acute Care Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.\n\nPrior to employment, the CRNP must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board. \n\nPrior nursing experience in specialty is preferable.
