The Diabetes Nurse Practitioner functions to provide comprehensive health for diabetic patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of providers. The diabetes nurse practitioner develops and manages the insulin pump program and continuous glucose monitoring program. The NP is responsible and accountable for the indirect supervision and training of the RN, the indirect supervision of the medical assistants / LPN, and for teaching all topics in the diabetes education programs. The NP is responsible and accountable for professional growth and for maintaining all certifications and licenses including acquiring and maintaining certification as a Certified Diabetes Educator.
Graduate of an NLN-approved school of nursing. \n\nCompletion of an approved nurse practitioner program with a MSN. \n\nAt least two (2) years experience as a Nurse Practitioner direct patient evaluation and management preferred\n\nRN and CRNP licensure in the State of Pennsylvania. CPR re-certification. \n\nNational Certification Board is required. \n\nMust have or be working toward the Certification Diabetes Educator.
